hello, im writing in to ask if anyone has an educated guess about the size of the st. george's waitlist. they tend to overaccept, but this year they tried to keep the acceptances reasonable (ie if there are 80 spots in the freshman class, they accepted 90). How large would you say their waitlist would be (they had 654 overall applicants for all slots in all grades two years ago), and if someone on the waitlist has made it clear that they will attend if they're accepted off the waitlist, will the school want to take them, rather than maybe, someone who's very dedicated to a sport or an extracurricular and has straight A's, but hasn't spoked with them? thanks

Each school has a different approach so it is best to ask them directly. Sorry no experience with St.G

@ whynodragons: Did you eventually get off the St. Georges waitlist and attend? Did you ever get the answer to your question as to how many students are on the waitlist at St. George ?
My S is in a similar situation this year.
Thanks!

I’ll ask them for you since I am talking to admissions tomorrow about some things.

@whynodragons, I didn’t get the info from my conversation (tried to work it in, honest) but I promise I will do my best this week. There are a LOT of kids revisiting though, from the sound of it. But I won’t forget.

Oura54 and Kittenygoodness - This thread is a year old . . . the OP, who only posted once, is long gone.

Sounds like Oura54 could still use the information, though!

Just noticed that, dodgersmom–thanks!! Therefore, Oura…I heard next weekend they are expecting in the neighborhood of 90 kids and I can talk to the kids parents I know who visited earlier this week also.

@Kittenygoodness: thank you very much. Not to sound confused however I was under the impression that all revisits ended this week. Also if each revisit has approximately 90 kids does that imply St. George accepted double the amount of students to fill their incoming class ( two revisits times approximately 90 kids at each revisit) ?

Remember, this all hearsay and conjecture until after April 10th when commitments have to be made. Like most, SG does a pretty good job in selling itself during the revisits. Good luck.

Oura, The first revisit was early this week (apparently it was amazing) and the second is tomorrow night/Saturday, so it’s all the same week–sorry if what I said was confusing.

A friend of mine did caution that it’s a good idea to take their tuition insurance (her daughter was spring cleaned).

Thanks Kittenygoodness . Enjoy the revisit tomorrow night/ Saturday and let’s us know how your day went . What is meant that your friends daughter was spring cleaned ? Does that mean off wait list and offered a spot for this September at St. George ? Where was the tuition insurance for?

I’ve seen that term, “spring-cleaned.” It was used in the novel Prep. It means that a student is dismissed from a school because of poor grades or poor fit.

How does the tuition insurance come in? If it’s not an outright infraction that could lead to expulsion are they expelling kids mid-year due to grades or fit? If we’re talking about grades that are so low for a mid-year expulsion to be reasonable, then that wouldn’t really be “spring cleaning,” would it? That would be doing the kid a favor and it’s probably not something that’s systemic or characteristic of the school’s approach to making space available for the incoming class.

It was a disciplinary spring cleaning from possessing a fake id. One strike policy and she was out. Tuition insurance apparently applies in this case according to my friend!

According to our host, there were about 40 families for the weekday revisit but 80 this weekend and definitely felt crowded.

Thanks Kittenygoodness . I hope the Saturday experience went well. Please let us know. Any word if St. George will be going to it’s waitlist this year? Thanks!

Thank you Kittenygoodness ! I hope you received my pm. My server had indicated the messages may not have reached you. Anyway, I hope you had a great revisit day. Thanks again !

I got them as you know!

@ Kittenygoodness : yes thank you. I gave that message prior to realizing you had received my PMs. Thanks again .
