Bank of America Student Leaders 2014

I'm going to go ahead and open a thread on this program since apparently it's very popular! Who else is applying to this program, and what district are you from? I hear great things about this program.

I am for Detroit district

There are no districts within like 75 miles of me. I had intentions of doing it, but I can’t :frowning: good luck

I am from the Atlanta district!

@liveleadlove, do you live in the middle of nowhere?

I live in NC, about 2 hours from Charlotte and 1 hour from Durham.

Other than that, yes, the middle of nowhere.

I’m from the NJ district! Does anyone know how competitive/selective is it?

I think it’s a generally competitive program regardless of the district, but I’d say that NJ is relatively more competitive.

Does this program pay more attention to academics over the non-profit work and community service? or is the other way around? or is equally weighted? mainly asking because my gpa is intact but my standardized test scores havent come in yet so i really dont know where i stand in that realm… haha thanks!

Pretty sure academics are less important for this program

Detroit district as well. I volunteered with Student Leaders last year and they said the summit in DC was AMAZING!

How do you know which district you are in?

Is this program binding? And I’m from the NJ district.

When is the application deadline?

Los Angeles district here! I was looking through the previous BoA Student Leaders threads from the past few years and have yet to see a single participant from LA. Less competition for me, hopefully? Because the internship sounds crazy competitive.

Really wanted to apply but my aunt is a Bank of America executive so I can’t :(

My half brother is a bank teller for BOA, can I still apply? We aren’t close and I didn’t even knew he worked for BOA until last week.

@ninadasiy probably. I don’t think they would really check into that esp. because it’s only your half brother. I honestly don’t think they would have known that I have a relative at BOA, but my aunt asked them if it would be alright for me to apply.

Do you think there is a point to apply to this program as a high school senior? I mean I can’t put it for college apps because I will already be in college.

Hi, I was considering doing this program, but I can’t find the list of markets. Could someone please provide me with a link?

Thanks!

Does anyone know if work within school (student leadership roles) count? That would be where I spend the majority of my time and put in the most effort.

I essentially have the same question as jakla17. The application is asking for “significant volunteer activities” and that’s what I’m providing for my essays. But the teacher who supervises the community services program is notoriously overworked and she barely knows me. I feel like the advisor for the school arts magazine (of which I’m editor-in-chief) could give me a better recommendation re: my leadership abilities. Should I go for it? TY in advanced!
