Bank to open account

What banks are on campus/Union? ATM?

IU Credit Union has numerous branches throughout town and in the Union. There have been some changes in the local banking picture the last few years. The result was that DH and I moved all of our accounts to IU Credit Union. Both kids had/have student accounts there.

We have some out of the ordinary requirements with banks due to the nature of our work. IU Credit Union has been fantastic! I strongly recommend them. After our D graduated from IU she had NO credit score (not a bad score–she just didn’t have one). She needed a credit card for work related trips. One employee helped us figure out how to help her establish a credit score. She had to have DH co-sign for the card initially, but we removed his name after she established her income for a year.

Chase is the most prevalent major bank on campus and in Bloomington.

One thing to keep in mind for OOS state students is that there is no Bank of America branch in the entire state, and no ATM in Bloomington. This can come as a surprise to students from places where there is one on every corner.

My D has kept an account in our hometown that she uses for her debit card, but puts some money every semester into a Chase account to tap whenever she needs cash. She says Chase ATMs are everywhere in/around campus.

Chase works, thanks!
