I took my SATs in March and June.

March (First Time) (Used the blue book)

550 CR
550 Math
500 Writing (6 essay)

After more preparation and the use of my Princeton Review Book

520 CR (this is killing me..)
570 Math
560 Writing (8 essay 56 MC)

So I went from a 1600 to a 1650...superscore of 1680...

How the hell do you guys get 2000s and all these amazing scores with 670+ in each section...can you guys suggest good books for improving math and CR..or tips and advice..I'm going to have to take it again in October (and probably ACT)

Someone is going to suggest it eventually, so i’ll just say it:

Silverturtle’s Guide to SAT and Admissions Success.

Is that what everyone else here uses?

Well i can’t speak for “everyone.” But yes, it’s really helpful.

Did you use it? And how’d you do if i may ask.

Honestly, take it again and again until you’re satisfied with your scores. Keep practicing, and I highly recommend an SAT tutor. I got one and my scores improved dramatically.

In March: 410 Math, 620 Writing, 540 CR
In May: 470 Math, 610 Writing, 570 CR
In June: 540 Math, 670 Writing, 630 CR

Obviously, I’m going to forget March and May ever happened. My point is, keep taking practice tests, get a tutor who specializes in the SAT, and have a positive attitude.

Blue book is great so is Princeton. And yes, check out the Silverturtle guide. And the College Board online course, I’ve heard, is pretty useful as well.

Good luck!

Thanks for the reply!

Of course, I’m going to be feeling down for a few days, but i hope to do better.

Seeing everyone else’s phenomenal scores makes me feel terrible about mine, plus i only increased by 50 points ■■■■.

Just get lots of practice. A week before the June SAT, I was scoring consistent 650s on the CR. After around 30 CR sections, my CR score rose up to a 700 on the real SAT. Do maybe 1 math, CR, and writing section a day for the whole summer and you’ll probably be able to get a 2000+.

Hey man, don’t get down on yourself. Use your score as motivation. Re-use the blue book, go over all your mistakes and read the online explanations for each question. Make sure you understand the reason that the right answer is the right answer. You can do it, just keep working.

Thank you all for the support.

I plan on studying alot more, but i’m not sure how to go about it.
I used my princeton review book to study for the June SATs and i scored around 610 in Math, 650 CR, 670 Writing on the PRACTICE TESTS, but on the actual i scored significantly lower…besides silverturtle’s guide and the online explanations, what other methods/books are there to increase Math and CR especially?
