is there anyway you could chance me or lmk if i should submit my scores?

Hi!

Personally, I would send that SAT score, it’s above average overall. Your math score is within the range, maybe a tiny bit low, but I think it’s great when put together with a well above average rw score, especially for prelaw. I’m not really familiar with the ACT so I can’t help you with that but Prepscholar has average scores for every school (google Barnard + prep scholar).

Hope this helps and good luck!

if anyone has any advice for this i’d really appreciate it!

my mom and counselor are really pushing ed 2 on me even though i was deferred from Barnard. i still have my heart set on it, but seeing as this year is super competitive, my mom is saying i won’t end up at a good school if i don’t do ed 2 somewhere. i’m maybe considering nyu but i’m seriously not ready to let go of Barnard yet - i just have no idea what my chances of admittance are because of deferral or how many people they deferred. i want to wait for RD and see, but now my mom is scaring me and i don’t want to end up at a school i don’t like. does anyone know what i should do because i am very very conflicted lol

same bro :frowning:

Did you violate their early decision restriction by applying early decision/early action to more than one school?

"The Early Decision plan is intended for students who passionately believe that Barnard is their first choice college. It is a binding decision plan, meaning that if you are admitted Early Decision, you agree to attend Barnard and promise to withdraw all other applications. Along with all other required and optional application materials, Early Decision applicants are required to submit an Early Decision Agreement which is signed by the applicant, their parent/guardian, and their counselor. Students applying under the Early Decision plan must apply by November 1st. Decisions will be released by mid-December. "

You can apply EA while applying ED. You just have the rescind those applications if you do get your ED.

no, i didn’t !! what’s nice about the college process is that you are allowed to apply early action and regular decision to other schools, but if you are granted admission to the school you ED’d to, you have to withdraw your other applications. my decision for Fordham came the day after my decision for Barnard but I have withdrawn that application so enrollment at Fordham is no longer an option for me.

Thank you so much for this!

hey! for all the accepted ladies I was wondering if you have advice on how to brainstorm good topics/conversations for the conversation with women question. I’m really struggling on that one and have cycled through like four different conversations but never end up with questions that I think are unique/personal enough to me. what types of questions did you all ask ?

So for me personally I kinda thought about 4 aspects of it-

  1. Obviously what I would really be interested in and people I would genuinely like to talk to, I made a list of these people
  2. Who was the least ‘typical’ I feel like so many people would do rbj (rip) or Michelle Obama or malala so I wanted to kinda do someone a little bit more unique? i don’t know if that’s the right word but not someone the ao has seen a bunch of already so anyone I felt was more commonly known I kinda crossed off my list
  3. then I thought about what would fit into the ‘theme’ of my application if that makes sense, so by application centered around volunteering and social work and basically how my past makes up my present and how that kinda gave me an idea of what I wanna do in my future so I wanted picked someone who is in that same field so then I could talk about my future aspirations!
  4. I lastly wanted to pick someone who I could relate to on a personal level, so for me it was reliogous but it could be cultural, maybe sexuality-wise but someone who you could relate personal experiences with, this isn’t required but I felt it added more conversation elements

I don’t know if I made a ton of sense lol but I hope it helped!

Hello! I just submitted my RD application for Barnard and checked to see if interviews were available. Much to my surprise, it seems like there are no more interviews for this admission cycle. I’m devastated because Barnard is one of my top schools. I wish I had checked sooner. Will my lack of interview severely impact my application?

It shouldn’t impact your application at all. I know plenty of people who go to Barnard who never interviewed. While a good interview adds to your app, no interview doesn’t negatively impact at all. That said, good luck!

thank you so much! After much brainstorming I finally found someone that I could relate to on a personal level and allow me to share some vulnerability with the admissions officers, so your points were very reassuring

HI! I’ve been stalking this thread for the longest time but this is my first post ah  I was curious, did anyone get in who didn’t write the optional one woman essay? I’ve been struggling a lot with it and with an ehhh writing ability, i worry it won’t add anything new to my application (potentially make it look worse!) i interviewed back in october and i think it went well, would that make up for it?

Although the essay is optional, I think it is honestly the most important essay out of the 3. With this essay you really have a chance to show what you value in leaders and show how a woman has impacted your thinking (positively or negatively). Unless all your other essays are absolutely amazing and your confident in them, I’d say write the essay, because the interview wont make up for it. The hardest part is choosing a woman because people tend to overthink and choose someone who they think admission would like (I’m guilty of this too) but the options are honestly endless. You can choose someone from your favorite children’s book or a side character from your favorite show. They can be young or old, real or fake, it really doesn’t matter as long as your able to write personally and honestly. And if the whole conversation/question aspect of the essay is bothering you, don’t worry too much because I didn’t ever write about what I would say to my woman in my essay and I was still accepted ED. Good luck, I hope this helps
