Barnard College ED Class of 2021!

Hey guy! I’m pretty new to College Confidential and I wanted to make a thread of all the hopeful Barnard College ED applicants. Hopefully we all get into our dream school! With only about a week away from the deadline, how are you guys feeling?

Hello! I am applying ED to Barnard as well  submitted my app today

Hi! Just submitted my application. Now… the wait. November is going to feel like the longest month of my life. Good luck to everyone!!

Did anyone else submit an art portfolio with their application? I feel like it might have been a risky move, but it’s already done. :-S

@melonpan I don’t think it can hurt your application. I didn’t send one because I thought my paintings were not good enough :stuck_out_tongue:

Hi! I submitted my application yesterday and just received an email from Barnard with a pin number to monitor my app

@melonpan I agree with @jbrazil  I don’t really think it can hurt you. I submitted a synopsis of my research via SlideRoom. One of the admissions officers suggested me doing that when I asked about it.

So what happens after you submit the Common App - do Barnard automatically send you an email?

@bm23 I received an email approximately 20 hours after I had submitted my app. They send you an email with your pin number and a link to create your account on the Barnard page so you can monitor your application.

Ok great thanks! It’s so exciting!!

I just submitted my app!!

eeep!! I submitted mine this weekend too! Fingers crossed for everybody! :)))

Side note, my school’s counselor suggested sending some of my SAT subject test scores even though Barnard doesn’t require them? Did anybody else do that? Is it too late? Would it help?

@shambled I’m taking SAT subject test in few days and I’ll send my score to Barnard. If you have really good scores, I suggest you sending them. I guess many applicants submit subject tests anyway. It can only help you.

@shambled I did send SAT Subject Test scores and unless the scores are very low I don’t think it will hurt your app.

hey guys! Im so excited. I really hope we all get in!

@daeneryssnow Me too! I wonder if the acceptance rate will be lower than last year… Hopefully not :expressionless: It was 16% for the Class of 2020, do you guys know what was the exact ED acceptance rate?

it was 43% last year. I thinks its a good shot that about 50% of us will get in. I’m applying through HEOP so wish me good luck!!

@daeneryssnow Thanks! Good luck to all of us

btw guys, did you guys send a mid term report? I asked my guidance counselor and she said it wasn’t necessary because the first semester just started. And the first term report too. I looked online on my portal and it says it’s missing

@daeneryssnow I don’t think I can help you because I’m an international applicant on a gap year, so I have already graduated. Although I submitted my mid term report anyway, there was a problem with first term grades because my Barnard account was indicating that it was missing. I was surprised that they were two different things. When I contacted an admission officer, he waived it. When do you receive a mid term report in the US? As far as I remember, the Barnard page says that you must submit first term grades only when they’re available. Maybe tell your guidance counselor that there are too different reports regarding the first semester. But I wouldn’t worry about it anyway because it’s ED.

Thanks! My 1st semester ends Jan.31, I’ll call the admissions office tomorrow I’ve called them a lot within the last week and I didn’t want to bother them too much.
