Did anyone apply to BOP?
@Betudo omg yeah then that makes sense. Sorry, I was just reporting what the css said! same tho I know I won’t get in but the rejection will still hurt
It will. I am trying to convince myself before it comes so I won’t be too hard on myself. I wish I applied ED, I was just scared of the costs and such. @taxicab1729
I thought they only selected students to apply to BOP, I didn’t know you could like apply without admission yet? @Betudo
@mw0990 you indicate that you are interested then you do an interview.
In 2013, RD decisions came out on 3/27… maybe they are doing that this year.
what about 2014-2016?
@petrichor2000 Before reading this remember I’m just a gal with a calculator and only 3/4’s the way through AP Stat so I could be completely wrong:
According to CO 2021 profile (https://admissions.barnard.edu/sites/default/files/class_of_2021_profile_1.pdf), 33.4% of the CO 2021 were classified as the minorities & first-gen (SP)^2 accepts, but then there’s the multiracial category of 6%, which I’m not sure if they account for the minorities (SP)^2 requires. Given those statistics, approximately 237 students of CO 2021 fit the ethnicities/ first-gen requirements that qualify for (SP)^2. Applicants to (SP)^2 must convey a strong interest in biology, chemistry, environmental science, physics/astronomy, or neuroscience–A.K.A. the biological or physical sciences. According to their Common Data Set for 2017-2018 (https://barnard.edu/sites/default/files/cds_2017-2018_2018-03-01.pdf), 66 students from the CO 2018 received degrees in the biological or physical sciences (I’m assuming the (SP)^2 applicants majored in the biological or physical sciences since the have to “convey strong interest” in them). Now, taking into account that 66 students who were CO 2018 received degrees in the biological or physical sciences and that CO 2021 had approximately 237 students eligible for (SP)^2, I would say maybe a little over a third (>79 people) of the 237 people of CO 2021 were interested in the biological/physical sciences when they applied. I could be definitely wrong on this part & maybe I’m mentally doing this for self-verification, but I think (SP)^2 only looks at applicants that have been accepted to Barnard, because why would they waste their precious time on rejected people. So finally, it about 79 people have fit the requirements, maybe they interviewed all of them, half of them, a quarter? Who knows…This is just my take on looking at the data.
My daughter applied to Barnard, Yale, Brown, Georgetown, Duke, Vanderbilt, UPenn, CCNY, UPitt, and Northeastern. Accepted to UPitt (honors college with almost a full ride!) and waitlisted at Northeastern so far.
Damn that was thorough AF :))
One of my other schools just released a notification that I’m finding out tomorrow, so that’s only one day in advance. Maybe expect an email tonight or definitely tomorrow?
Do you all think decisions will be released this week? There’s currently a snowstorm in NY, and I think admissions is closed.
