courseload: pretty standard 4 courses, some higher level courses- pretty clear that I had my hands full
extracurrics: leadership in clubs, was involved in faculty recruitment process, arts scholarships, got accepted to a performing arts company, won stuff abroad, was in a documentary nominated for an oscar
essays: pretty good imo
recs: strong

so theres definitely hope for those with less than perfect sats and gpas!
good luck everyone still waiting!

recs: very strong rec from French professor.

accepted for fall 2007.

i won't be going though. i've chosen smith. more laid back and has a better french program.

I just received my rejection letter from Barnard today. I'm bummed, but there's always next year, right? Anyhoo, I just finished my freshman year at a state university. Semester 1: 3.6 Semester 2: 4.0 HS Gpa was around an 88 and my SATS are a frightening 1660/2400. Yikes. Hopefully if I apply for my junior year my high school record won't come back to bite me in the butt.

My mom just called to tell me that a thick Fed-Exed envelope from Barnard arrived today, but that she didn't have time to open it as she had to take my little brother to get a haircut.

She just called and I got in!!!!!!!!!!! And I'm going, unless by some freaky, unnatural star-alignment or similar celestial phenomenon, I get into Penn.

Stats:
3.42, heavy courseload, applied for junior standing (from CU Boulder).
1420 SAT1 (720 verbal, 700 math), 800 Writing SAT 2, 670 Bio, 700 French
Decent stats from a very prestigious prep school
College ECs: Editor for a magazine I helped start, volunteering
Decent rec
Straight As at midterms - I seriously think that this is what did it, because two of them were in senior level classes, and one of those was from a class I took with a professor who went to Barnard. And since the midterm reports are like mini-recs, well...)

SO HAPPY. I have been agonizing over this for three years. Now I can finally move on and just enjoy college, and working toward grad school...

Extracuriculars: Debate team, Dance team, Yearbook, Photography, Student Government, Key Club, internships, Shadowing a doctor, research... basically i had one of the most extensive amazing extraactivities list in school. All of them i had leadership roles in.

Current School: St. Johns University
GPA: 3.8-3.9
took ACTs in college and got a 30
Bio Sats:700 History:680
Major: Political Science and minor in Photography
Extra: dance, photography, internship at a marketing company, research, shadowing a doctor, EMt services

Accepted as a sophomore for next fall.
current school: sarah lawrence
current gpa: approximately 3.8
courseload: it's hard to say for sarah lawrence because most classes are all-level and a full courseload is only 3 courses. I took a 19th Century European history course, Calculus, and a literature class that focused on epics.
extracurriculars: very involved in backstage/tech theater in high school, kinda involved in college, knitting club president in high school, briefly (one summer) employed in a knitting shop, worked tech on a professional dance production once.
sat: 780 verbal/690 math/800 writing
I had something like a B+/A- average in a pretty mediocre (1 AP class, one advanced class) courseload at a top NYC school.

My stats are nothing incredible; I'm pretty sure it was my teacher recs that got me in. I had two professors who knew me well write recs (one was also my advisor) and I'm fairly certain that they both wrote really good ones.

I'm definitely going, by the way! see some of you in the fall :)
