I went on a tour today to both NYU and Barnard today, and geez, the rush hour is horrible! 3 miles in 1 hour upon leaving!
And I'm confirmed that Barnard is the school for me. I really really would love to go there. No inkling of a doubt about it.

Yes, the traffic in NY is horrendous. But thankfully, public transportation reigns supreme in the city!

Barnard is definitely my #1, as well.

What other schools is everyone else applying to? I am also applying to Vassar, Swarthmore, NYU, et cetera...

barnard is my first choice too. i am so nervous to find out!
good luck everyone. :)

I'm pretty sure the acceptance letters go out through snail mail in a big, priority mail envelope because they give you a huge folder full of Barnard goodies/info to go along with your letter. At least that was the way for me last year. Good luck to you guys! :)

I applied to vassar, colgate, hamilton, UofR, nyu (accepted gsp), su (accepted).

melloyello, do you know the acceptance rate, space, and how many people applied to there last year? When did you receive the letter (if rd)?

Sorry, if i'm bombarding you with these questions, but ever since that visit, i've come to idolize the college, and it has become my virtual dream school. I'll be so crush, if i don't get in, and i'm not handling the stress very well.

Actually, I applied ED, so I got my acceptance letter around Dec. 18th. I think RD people got their acceptances around the first week of April. I THINK. I'm not sure, sorry. The stats for the Class of 2008 is on the Admissions website, under "Apply to Barnard", and then under "Profile of Class of 2008". I think the RD acceptance rate last year was 27%, or something like that. But they have all the stats that you'll need on that page, from SATs and GPAs to geographical locations of enrolled students.

I hope you get accepted as well! You certainly sound like you would enjoy being here and succeed here as well. Barnard is truly amazing, and I hope you get to experience it! If you have anymore questions about the college, please feel free to e-mail me at fm2127@columbia.edu. I guess that goes for anyone else for that matter. :)

Agh, that percent rate is really low for Rd. Reaally low. Thanks, now i'm going to dwell on the regrets of not applying as ed, if i could've afforded it. I'm sure I'll have more questions, if perchance, i'm accepted.

Hmm, that acceptance rate is a bit disheartening. I would've applied ED, but financial aid is a big deal for my family.

But somehow, I'm also glad I applied RD. There are just so many other possibilities that I love...and I'm starting to get acceptances from other great colleges!

chiaroscuro, did you hear from Vassar, or any of the colleges I applied to?

Nope. Haven't heard anything from Vassar or NYU. I didn't apply to any of those other schools.

One more week, ladies!
Good luck!

one more week? shouldn't we be receiving the letters two weeks from tomorrow (april 1st)?

oops, didn't see the other post where it says that barnard is sending out letters on march 25th. ahhh, now i am nervous! i can't wait!

You have no idea how neurotic I am, not just about Barnard, but about other schools, too! As soon as I come home, I HAVE to check the mailbox and my e-mail! sigh

crosses fingers best of luck to everyone! btw, does anyone know if mail is being delivered on good friday (the 25th lol) and/or on easter monday? i'm so nervous and anxious!

I think so...they're not national holidays, right?

I looked on the USPS website, no they WILL be delivering on Friday and Monday, they are not observed by the post offices. YAY!

thanks so much!!!

WOOHOO!!! :)

Ahaha...I'm such a loser.

That would've been a cruel twist of fate, though, if the mail wasn't going to be delivered on those days. I'll probably be one of the first ones to get a decision (most likely Monday), since I live close to Barnard.
