So am I!!! I’ve been refreshing the page all day long…
Now I feel like we will have to wait until Friday
It’s kind of getting annoying how long this is taking. The fact that they released some on Friday and left the rest of us just hanging…
@baileywalters18 I was thinking about it. I think what might be happening is that the rest of the decisions asked for financial aid, so the admissions office is coordinating with the financial aid office and making the final decisions for those who requested aid. That’s what would make sense with the added wait time and such. Also, most people who heard back last Friday from what I could tell did not request aid.
@brightplaces I like the sound of that idea. I just wish they would release them before Friday cause that seems super late.
I didn’t ask for fin. aid and haven’t heard back. but I think that could be partly true!
Seems like a possibility! They probably do need to coordinate with the fin. aid office to see who they can provide fin. aid for and who’s going to ultimately get rejected because of it
But Friday does seem super late considering most transfers have to decide where they are attending by June 1st. If they aren’t released this week, idk what I’ll do. Not to mention that Barnard housing for transfers isn’t guaranteed. At this rate, it’ll be super hard to get housing.
@brightplaces I didn’t request FA and I know a few people on Reddit that didn’t as well and we’re all still waiting on a decision, so it may not be that.
@tingkerbell Ooof, that was the thing that I thought roughly a lot of people still waiting on a decision had in common. Oh well, I’m not sure what else. It could be housing (but international students were accepted, so seems unlikely). Another thing is they might be gauging interest based on the first pool of acceptances to see who would commit to understand if they need to whittle the pool down more or increase the number of acceptances to meet yield for the cohort they want to bring in. These are just a few things that I could think of. I mean, I’m not sure it matters, but maybe if you are like me the hypothetical gives you some comfort that things are changing and moving along…
Has anyone gotten ahold of anyone at Barnard recently?
Oh, just a thing. If Barnard is doing an NYU type roll-out it will be weekly on approximately the same day. Or they might be just having fun with the suspense (which I would do because I am easily entertained) in which case we won’t know. So, I guess we should just go with the flow.
For those who got accepted, how long do you have to submit a deposit?
@brightplaces Waiting for a decision has been keeping me up at night every single day and at this point I just want to know already so I definitely feel you on the hypothetical front. Maybe it’s based on when we submitted it? Either way, good luck!
Someone brought up that it may be based on whether we applied for FA or not and I think that makes a lot of sense. I applied really early (mid Feb) and applied to FA and haven’t heard back yet
I am gonna guess that financial aid is definitely a component but not the only one. I applied for FA and I haven’t heard but I know there are some who didn’t and still haven’t heard. I’m sure that they are waiting to see who immediately puts down the deposit of those who were accepted on Friday and based on that, that could change the amount of students they reject or waitlist. I think we are going to hear Friday since it didn’t come out yesterday or today. It’s definitely annoying that they are making us wait so long and not giving us a decision yet, but I guess there’s not much we can do about it! Remember to breathe and everything that happens is meant to be! Also, just because we haven’t heard doesn’t mean we aren’t getting in. If they were going to reject us I’d guess that they would just do that in the beginning and not waste our time but ya never know! Fingers crossed for everyone
I actually talked to the admissions committee today and was told decisions would be rolling for the ENTIRE MONTH. I was so shocked I didn’t get to ask if the roll out would be weekly. This is heartless, I’m sorry.
Some of my schools want a response by literally Friday… This is a nightmare
@chubbyguppy you have to deposit within 30 days of receiving your acceptance
@purplepenguin333 I agree with you, most schools who does rolling will reject students first (got rejected from Northwestern in the first round lol). Since it doesn’t make sense for them to keep us hanging there for no reason, and it’s kinda rude for keeping us waiting just for rejections. Hope we all can hear back sometime this week, best of luck everyone!!!
In case it’s helpful to anyone else, I got to them at about 4:30 pm on this number after they called me back from seeing my caller ID and I missed the call. The woman was downright rude. 9292514966. Absolutely no empathy for what we are going through. Last year, they started releasing April 25th and were done May 9th. Maybe if a bunch of us call and let them know we need answers, they will actually do something to get decisions out this week? This is criminal.
