Barnard TRANSFER Fall 2020

Does anyone know how long does it take Barnard to reply your email? I sent them an email last Monday in regards to my missing documents, and I also tried to call them almost everyday but no one answered the phone and the voicemail box is full. I know because of everything that is going on now that may slow down the process, but should I wait until after 4/1 to check back since they extended the deadline?

I tried emailing both transfer@barnard.edu and the regional admissions counselor, and I’m still waiting on the first response but my regional counselor got back to me the next morning. I recommend finding and emailing your own admissions counselor: Barnard Website > Admissions and Aid > Contact Us > Meet the Admissions Team > Search for Admissions Representatives by Region Here.

I see, thanks for letting me know. I will email my regional counselor now!!

@transferr2020 I think the missing documents is normal so far. It says neither my HS or college transcript has been received by a few of my transfer schools, and it seems to be a common problem.

@corinnaolson @childishlandino Hey! Not sure if someone already answered this, but when I submitted my app I didn’t get any email or confirmation or anything to set up my portal. I just googled something like “Barnard application status” and a page called “application management” came up and when you click that it gives you the option to sign in as a returning user or create your account as a first time user. Just type in your info and your application should be on file and let you sign in. Kind of weird that there were no emails, but so far my portal seems to be working and showing my checklist and everything. I hope this helps!

@westvillagelover Thanks for letting me know, I guess they are just trying to process everything and because of everything that is going on now that is slowing their process. I checked today and it shows my high school transcript has been received today (3/24)

has anyone submitted their midterm report or know if Barnard is accepting other forms that show midterm grades? my college went online for the rest of the semester because of the virus and I’m not entirely sure if I will be able to get all my professors to complete the form and scan it back to me :frowning: I sent Barnard an email last week but I think they’re a bit busy with all of the stuff going on at the moment.

@childishlandino I think I’ve heard from some other schools say they would accept unofficial midterm grades because most colleges have gone online, but I think the midterm report document we are meant to send to schools is also about like our classroom presence and participation, so I’m not sure if they’ll accept just our grades  I wish they would let us know

@childishlandino Don’t quote me on this, but I feel like grades are just fine. I got my midterm report done and half of my professors put short comments, the other half didn’t because they’re optional – definitely not going to make or break anyone’s application, it’s just to track your general progress.

Just submitted my application - fingers crossed!

Hi! I recently submitted my application, and I noticed that in my portal there’s an academic evaluation requirement. Does anyone know what this is?

@Sydneyhou The academic evaluation depends on the school, but I think it is either recommendations, the college report, or your midterm report. Also, they take a bit to upload everything to the portal so maybe check back in a couple of days before freaking out.

@childishlandino I would email your admissions representative for your area. They will give you a much more thorough and accurate response. Also, I would email the college mid-term report to your professors and have them sign it on the pdf or have them scan it to you.

Hi, on my application portal, there’s a list of received test scores. The status of one of my SAT scores listed is “discrepancy,” even though it’s accurate and there’s another score listed underneath it (the exact same score & same test date) that says “verified.” Does anyone know what this means and if I should reach out to them?

has everyone submitted their midterm report? I’ve been having trouble reaching my profs about it and I just saw the deadline was April 1…

@corinnaolson I submitted mine on April 1 but I literally just wrote my own grades and in the comments put “Could not reach professor”. I’m not sure if this is acceptable but a lot of the other schools I’m applying to have let me self-report my grades?? I emailed Barnard but they haven’t replied yet. If there’s a problem, I’m assuming they’ll let me know…

I submitted the midterm report, but that’s because my midterms were pretty early this semester so I managed to get all the signatures literally a day or two before my school closed.

Do you think they’ll penalize you if you send the mid-term report late? I couldn’t get ahold of my professors until recently, but I sent the form today.

@childishlandino I doubt it. I’m still working on getting ahold of my profs, and deadlines have been so thrown off by everything. plus, I emailed one of my other schools about it and they said they’ve already moved my application to the decision committee and the midterm report won’t affect my decision at all.

@CHVRCHES @salster may I ask how you submitted the midterm report? I sent an email with a copy of it to transfer@barnard.edu and uploaded it as transfer application materials on my portal but I’m not sure if that was the right way lol
