do you think there is any chance we hear back before may 1?
I doubt it… I feel like it would be later rather than sooner
@colb1234567 with everything going on, my best guess is that we’ll hear back after May 1st
Has anyone/their institution opted into the pass-fail scheme this semester?
I didn’t because I was worried it would hurt my chances
I agree but Barnard & Columbia have chosen that route too!
I’m kinda planning on doing pass/fail for a course or two to maintain my GPA since I’ll get a decision before my quarter is over (and it’s a lot harder to focus from home than college). I’m sure they’ll be quite understanding given the current situation. However, if accepted and they recommend against it, I won’t.
So wouldn’t you inform the admissions about your decision to opt into pass-fail before the decisions are out? My school doesn’t allow the students to switch back and forth
Oh for my current school, we decide whether we want them to be taken as pass/fail after we get our final grades in the class (so once the quarter is over), so I want to see how the colleges who accept me feel about giving me credit for pass/fail courses.
Does anyone know how rolling works? I know they’ll start coming out Friday, but does anyone know how long they’ll be coming out for? If we don’t hear Friday when should we expect to hear by?
I’m not positive on this one but I’m assuming the first wave and the following one or two will be acceptances and then after that they’ll start with waitlists and rejections as spaces do or don’t open up. Idk about Barnards policies but some schools roll every week day at around the same time and others just do like a few waves on set days. I know that’s not super specific but I hope that helps
is it confirmed/likely anyone will hear on May 1? or do you think they’ll start sending decisions starting next week?
There’s no way we can know for sure. I’m hoping the first wave comes out tomorrow, but if it doesn’t with everything going on it will likely come sometime next week and then roll for a week or two. I’m trying to be patient but it’s honestly all I can think about.
Did anyone else submit any transcripts via parchment, and if so has Barnard downloaded them?
@MomentaryBliss Agreed, I’m really trying to not think about decisions (especially since my school is in the midst of finals), but it’s really hard to not think about it. But, I want to wish everyone here luck! I’m sure you are all hardworking and smart students, so no matter what happens, I wish you the best!!!
One of the other Seven Sisters schools (Bryn Mawr) released decisions today, so Barnard + other 7sisters are probably coming up soon in the next few days!
@waterfalls723 I did a couple months ago at this point. Barnard downloaded them within 2 days of me sending them through Parchment. However, I am unsure how the current events have affected their schedule.
@corinnaolson Do the 7 sisters have that close of a relationship still? I know they have a historical one, but from what I can tell (aside from some visiting programs) they don’t do much in conjunction with one another. For example, Amherst College, Smith, and Holyoke are all more closely affiliated with one another than Barnard is with them and they release decisions on very different days. It just seems more like coincidence rather than coordination…
two of my financial aid documents still appear as “not reviewed” on the portal. is this happening to anyone else?
That has been me for the past week lol!
