Barnard Transfer Thread 2011

nope. not yet. but i sure hope i get accepted.

I called Barnard admission office today. They told me they have not mailed the decisions and they will inform individually. The woman who picked up the phone said they were still making the final decisions. So… It is a long way to go…

what do they mean by inform individually?

actually, i sort of think that they’ve send out the decisions to almost everybody they want already. and we are probably waiting for people who are accepted to inform barnard that they will not be attending so barnard can inform us if we get accepted.

Wow, they are really taking their time, even though its making me nervous I’m a bit relived they are. It means they are putting even more careful consideration into these applications. Im praying hard for them to make MY right decision lol

I don’t know. This is driving me kind of crazy. If they really haven’t made some of the final decisions or sent out the bulk of the letters, we’re definitely not going to get them by any definition of “mid-May”. I’ve already heard from all of the schools that I thought I’d be hearing from after Barnard. I’m SO over running to my mailbox every day to see if I have a letter yet! ARGHH.

Glad I could vent. Haha.

Well, at least nobody can say that the decisions are being rushed, lol.

I’ve got to think that they’ll send out decisions by the end of this week. That would mean that most people would receive their decision by the 24th or so, which I guess could still plausibly be mid-May.

A few years ago there was this tv show on NBC or ABC about finding America’s “next great invention”. One guy had this bizarre stuffed animal doll thing that just repeated “Everything is going to be alright” again and again. I sort of wish he had won the competition, because I’d really like one of those dolls right now. Lately I’ve just been sticking with a simple mantra: everything will be alright; eventually I’ll be happy, whether I go to Barnard or UNLV (ugh, haha).

But, yeah, the mantra’s totally not working…I’m nervous as hell. And I really, really want Barnard :/

@barnardbarnard. I asked them if they have mailed the decisions. They answered they would not email all decisions on the same day. Instead, they would tell us individually. In my opinion, I think what she means is they would tell some of us first like what they did earlier. I do not understand why they do that, but I think at the end of this week, some of us will hear decisions. Actually, my friend is a transferring student at Barnard ast year. She told me she heard decisions very late in May and they called her directly to tell her decisions. She had a friend last year who was in waitlist of transferring student. It is wierd…

They sure are taking their sweet time, even though they’ve had all of March and April.

@handgrenades: I really, really hope you’re right, even though I still don’t feel too great about waiting until next Tuesday. =/

@barnardbarnard: The way you phrase it makes it seem really depressing, lol. Like we’re the unimportant backups. ;p

@vinniexinyu, that is weird. what if you missed a call? do they then repeatedly call you or something? this is great, one more thing to worry about (other than the mail not coming through). but thanks for the information. i think it does alter the perspective a little.

@midnight firefly, lol. I’m sorry i sound that way. I was really down at the whole way they are treating this. but you’re right about them taking their sweet time. i think i just need to take a leaf out of handgrenades book and be more positive.

why can’t they just do it by email like everyone else it is 2011!
why waste time & money… than again i’ve spent a total of $70 in mailing and app fees
so maybe that $0.44 is worth them wasting lol

@ellomeno, haha. you crack me up. but seriously, you’re right. it’s 2011. email please and save the trees.

As much as I love the idea of reading words of a piece of paper and getting and old-school response, I have to say that email definitely would be much faster, more organized, and more efficient. =/

@barnardbarnard: Yeah, I don’t like how they are handling this either. I just wish they would give us something concrete to work with, like, “we have this number of applications left and we are sending out ten responses a day” or “you should definitely have a response by the 23rd.” I hate being left hanging!

hahah…I really love the idea it is 2011, please save trees! Actually, I will play a part in saving tree cuz I m an international student and they will send me decisions via email. I hope I could get it early!!!

Ha, I’m totally on board with the e-mail thing, too. I honestly don’t know why some schools still stick with the mail-only system. Maybe if all of us end up at Barnard (fingers crossed!) we can start some sort of petition to change how admissions notifications are given :p

update***
I actually just called the admissions office and they informed me that there was a delay with the decisions but they have been sent out and we should receive them by the end of this week or sometime next week.

And now we wait. (some more)

Yay! I honestly don’t care about waiting a few days, as long as I know decisions are on their way.

Thanks, schatzii, for calling!

that’s a big news!!! They are on their way!!! just wait!!

They might send emails - I just got a rejection via email. =(

I just got a rejection via email, too. Ah well…I suppose I’ll probably end up at American. Good luck to the rest of you!

I have a good friend at American and she loves it! Sadly Barnard was my only Transfer option…but good luck to you if you choose American! And I hope the rest of you have better luck with Barnard than we did!
