Barron's Lit -- helpful?

So, for my SAT lit retake, I bought the Barron's Literature book. On the diagnostic test, I got a somewhat underwhelming raw score of 36 (I think that's a scaled of 620, but not sure).

Has anyone here ever started out with a low diagnostic test score on Barron's and, after working through the book, attained a much higher score? If so, do you have any advice for me?

On the Barrons tests I took I got around 650-660, but on the real test i got a 750.

That said, I felt as if the Barrons test was about equal to the real test. It wasn't substantially more difficult, though some people think that it is.

Actually, that's how I feel about Barrons in general... like on bio I was getting like 800s, but then on the real test I only got a 740... ohhhh well

ashraf, I've been using Barron's lit for the last 2 weeks (and it's absolutely the best Barron's review book I've seen). I got a 36 raw score on the diagnostic as well, but then I bumped it up to 46 (about a 710) after only reading the first section on meaning. So I wouldn't be discouraged, because I think that if you trend like I am doing then you should be getting great scores in the last few tests.

@ eating food: I'm glad you said the Barron's test is about equal, that means I can accurately gauge my performance :)

I used Barron's to study and I thought it was pretty helpful.
