Barron's SAT

Is this a good book?

Not as a primary source for preparation, yet it has some useful tips and tactics.

As for practice exams, get the official guide (the blue book by CollegeBoard) and do them all.

What should I do after I finish the BB? Should I use Barron’s or are there other prep books available that are better?

Hey guys,
are the CR questions in Barron`s adequate ?

There is no such thing as adequate questions for CR. If you get stuck in a certain score range, it will be very hard to improve no matter how much you solve. The only way to improve significantly further than your score range is by reading more and more stuff on all topics.

OR:

Memorize all of Barron’s 3500 words and hope to find one or two words showing up in your SAT test :D

This is so not true ! Memorizing the 3500 words will help you understand the passages well ; besides very often some answer choices consist of very hard words and if you dont know them ,you cant know what does the answer choice say ,therefore it is very likely to miss that question.

There are many people who improved from low 500s to high (or mid) 600s.This is possible !
For example,I used to make 22-25 errors on practice tests before my Jan exam .I somehow managed to improve to 600 on the real test ,and now I make no more than 12-13 errors ,Aiming for 680-700.I
My first score range was 500-540 ,now it is 640-680.I didnt read any novels - I just memorized 3500 words  (I had already known many of them)

Avman, if you are finished with the BB then I suggest you take a look at the Barron’s book. It is a little bit harder but it’ll make you more prepared. Also, if you want, you could purchase the official guide on the college board website. It has 6 additional tests and many practice exercises :)

As to CR… it is going to get the best of me. Just learn words and…learn words…

Thanks for the advice Conquerer, but I don’t want to spend $60 (w/ the $10 discount) for only 6 tests. I’ll just use Barron’s now.
