Is Baruch a good school to get me into Ibanking? I know its considered a "mere community college", but during the most recent orientation I've met a number of kids with summer internships at GS, Bank of A. Wealth Mgmt (Meryll), Deloitte, and etc. However, Baruch doesnt really have a "target" school status, and an elite name.. Any alums care to share their experience?

Baruch is definitely not a target for front office - it is a target for back office. If you want IB, you will have to work hard - very high GPA, club involvement, know the technicals, try to land boutique internships and network.

Most people at Baruch who have internships and jobs with BB banks are working in back office and, recently, albeit to a lesser extent, WM - in Deloitte, it is generally audit, not MC.

It is possible to break into IB for sure, but definitely requires more leg work than coming from, say, Stern or Columbia

PM me if you have other questions
