basic question for current dartmouth students

first of all, i sincerely apologize for the very mundane nature of this question, haha. since my mom is frugal and trying to get sheets on sale (and i will be attending dartmouth in the fall), i was wondering, should the sheets be "twin" or "twin XL"? anything else i should keep in mind for dorm rooms? thanks so much in advance!

As the mother of a current D student, I know it's Twin XL. You and your roommate can buy a used minifridge, if you want one, at the sale of used furniture and stuff on the day you move in for about $25. (You can also get things like irons, computer printers, and tvs, as well as lots of other random stuff.) The dorms seem to have vacuums, should you be that rare college student who actually cleans their room ;) You can also rent things through Evolving Vox, if you live too far away to bring them. That's all I know. :)

this is so helpful. thank you!

I'll neutralize your basic question with an acidic answer! (Sorry, I couldn't resist.)

If you plan on buying used stuff at the sale on move-in day, be sure to get there EARLY, as the good stuff tends to go fast. My room came with a desk with hutch, chair, small dresser-type thingy, and armoire, and the only thing I bought was a sphere chair for my room (from Target, $30ish).

You don't need to purchase a TV if you're content with watching television on your computer. You can access all the major networks and major cable stations on your computer through DarTV for free (be sure to bring an ethernet cable).

Also, if you want to buy furniture before you leave, it'll be best to wait for your room assignment, which will come in early August. There are floor plans of all the dorms, complete with square-footage, available on the ORL (Office of Residential Life) website.

Hope this helps!
