I was reading about secret societies at colleges and there was a list with NU having this one, as well as Deru, a not-so-secret honor society. Could anyone explain if they know anything about these?

I dont know anything about DERU, except that the vast majority of students at NU think it is ridiculous.
Towards the end of last year a student founded a different "secret honor society" which is neither secret, nor honorific, that any student can join. It's sort of made to make fun of DERU and the Ivy dining clubs, but they actually do have meetings and members.

NU keeps a list of all chartered student organizations. I dont think DERU is on it because they are weird about secrecy, but this other one is.

There was a link to a Northwestern site with a list of registered honor clubs and Deru was listed, though I can't find anything on Basiliaz, and it is supposed to be of the Skull and Bones-type I guess since nothing is really known. I was just wondering if any NU students have seen anything or know any info on practices, entrance, etc. I think secret societies at schools are sort of neat in a way, kinda like Dead Poet's Society. It's not really wanted at schools and it's like rebelling in a way, having your own private club. Everyone liked that during childhood.
