<p>Does anybody know how the basketball ticket distribution works? We got a flyer today explaining the "loyalaty" system that goes into effect if the demand is greater than the supply. I assume that if you have not previously purchased tickets, you are in a lottery. How does this work? Is there much chance for a freshman to get tickets?</p>
<p>I've not been to a game since the days of the Field House. Is the Pete a good venue?</p>
<p>I attended one game my senior year at Pitt, I believe this was the first year for the Pete. It was really nice and not crowded (but it was a preseason game during winter break...). As for getting tickets, I've heard its near impossible to get them as a student. I never actually tried to get tickets because the student section is so freaking small and they have midnight madness that I couldn't attend. I don't even know anyone who has really ever gotten them without connections, but then again I didn't have a lot of friends in undergrad. </p>
<p>With midnight madness you basically stand in line all day/night and hope to get in the distribution. It has been an issue in the past for Pitt not being fair in the process. For example, students were under the impression that the earlier you stood in line, the better seats you get and there was no mention of a lottery. Then, when the time came officials said it was a lottery system and someone waiting in line for 5 min had just as good of a chance as someone there for 14 hours. I don't know how they do it now, but just be warned that they don't like being frank about the ticket distribution process and there are very few student seats available at the Pete.</p>
<p>Too bad. Sounds like there's not much chance. I thought it might be fun since it's on campus. I was really sorry that they razed Pitt Stadium and put an end to the fun football Saturdays in Oakland. Heinz Field is certainly a nice venue, but not the same being off campus.</p>
