@emilybee They basically said that the 5,920 can’t be applied to what I need it to be applied to.
It depends on what you want for environment and in terms of opportunity, at either school, you’re going to be able to do whatever you want when you graduate. Graduating from Bates, I had no trouble getting into the graduate programs I wanted to go to or getting any job I wanted. And beyond that, as someone who now has age and experience on my side, I can honestly say that no matter where you go, it’s what you put into it that makes the difference and is the best indicator of success in life. I believe they call it grit.
My post above was in response to the Bowdoin/Bates debate. I guess you could also include Colby too!
@K9 he didn’t get into Bowdoin.
OP, your FA package is excellent. Paying $4093 dollars a year at a school like Bates is an insanely good deal! You can ask them for a little more money, and I am sure you would get it. You can work summers. If you are going to be 18, you can go regardless of if your parents want you to or not. Your father is really going to be ruining an amazing opportunity for you, tbh. I doubt you could even attend the local community college for less than $5000 for a year. I suggest you bring your father in to talk with a school counselor and see if they can talk sense into your father.
Again, please post about this in the FA forum. There are some really knowledgeable people who can help you figure out your best plan of action.
There was a big error on my fathers tax return. Everything is being fixed. Thanks!
