I was accepted to Bates as well as the University Honors Program @ GWU.

I am currently trying to figure out which one I would like to attend. I know they are both... very different, but the offer of honors at GW has made my decision difficult.

My desired major would be Biochemistry.

At Bates, I know I would receive a stellar education with intimate relationships with professors, something I value. Bates also offers Senior Theses which is something I personally want to do during my undergraduate experience. Though, I worry about the social aspect of Bates as well as the "bates" bubble.

I was not considering GWU until the Honors program, which offers Honors housing, early registration, among other benefits. However, from my understand, the UHP at GW doesn't have honors classes like other schools, so I would still have to take intro bio/chem classes and possibly not receive research opportunities with professors that surpass being their lab rat.

Other institutions that I have been accepted to include Whitman, Gettysburg, Bucknell, and William + Mary.

Gettysburg gave me the presidential scholarship but I am unsure if I want to attend because I acquired offers from schools with stronger academics. Though, going here would allow me to be a leader, as opposed to just another student.

I love the idea of Whitman but from what I've heard, BBMB (Biochem, Biophys, molec. bio) restricts branching out into electives / other majors and minors.

I also got money at Bucknell, but while the students say they balance partying and studying, I sometimes worry that with the overwhelming Greek life that this is not the case.

With WM, I've heard similar things to Bucknell, that the students are either PARTY or STUDY, but no sense of balance. I also am unaware that they were strong in the sciences.

Thanks for any insight.
