Ok, stupid freshman question.

How are the bathrooms set up in residence halls? Like I know there's shared bathrooms in the suites & plazas, but what do the bathrooms look like in the halls? Like are they lockeroom style (ala High School) where everyone showers in the same room? Or are there like seperate showers with curtains or something?

Lol, I know this is a stupid question, but inquiring minds need to know! ;)

its all one big room, but theres separate stalls for each toilet and shower.

like stalls with curtains/doors? so they're still semi-private?

Umm.. just think of it like a public restroom... except half the stalls are showers.

It depends on where you are, which wing... etc. For example, I live in Rieber and the North and South side bathrooms vary slightly because back in the day, North used to be solely for guys and South was solely girls. My particular bathroom, where you enter, has 6 sinks in front of two large mirrors. Then, on the left, there are 4 stalls and 2 urinals. To the right of the sinks, there are 6 shower stalls. They're basically like a toilet stall, but a shower head instead of a toilet. It's really not as bad as it sounds.

On the other hand, the south side has 6 stalls and 0 urinals, and 4 showers... which are a bit different in that they have little changing rooms for each shower.

Either way it's no big deal, the bathroom situation is actually a blessing for making things more social (people talk/sing in the shower, keeps things interesting, and you run into people in the bathroom). I lived in De Neve my freshman year (and not to discourage those of you in De Neve) but the advantages of having my own bathroom were far outweighed by the disadvantages of living in De Neve (aka I hated it), but that's just me. In the Res halls (like Rieber), I've had an amazing experience and I love my floormates. I was seriously considering transferring last year, but Rieber has made me enjoy the school and my experience a lot more. But either way, different strokes for different folks.

okay, so are there curtains for the bathroom stalls?

On my side, it's just a stall... like a toilet stall... there's a physical door, like a stall door. On the South side, there's a stall door and then a curtain between the shower and the mini-changing room.
