Thanks much! I knew last year class was a high number - just didn’t know how much. Glad they’re cutting it back down a bit in size.
Does anyone know if Baylor would ever increase your Distinction Award?
We asked what the criteria were and were told there is no matrix and the offer was carefully crafted and final. Fast forward about 6 weeks and we get an email where we have 48hrs to explain/document why we think we should receive more (mid year grades and competing offers were asked to be uploaded). Response supposedly by 3/15
Would love to hear the results of your efforts. Please report back.
Hi everyone, I got into GoBaylor on Friday morning and it was working but in the afternoon I went to it and it suddenly says that there is an Error 503. I just got back on again today to see if it’s working but it’s not. I keep logging in and out but it is still not working. Is anyone else having this problem? I’m thinking about calling to see if they can help me but I probably have to wait until next week because of spring break. I just came on here to see if anyone else is having this problem.
My kid applied November 1st, was invited to and attended I2E, and other than that, it was radio silence until 10 days ago. Then, all within a few days, he was accepted, his chosen honors program issued an invite, and he received Distinguished Scholarship information late last week.
He had emailed his advisor who first checked his file to make sure all was as it should be. Then, just essentially said “it’ll happen when it happens” and that there was no rhyme or reason to the process. It took another 2 or 3 weeks after that email convo before he was accepted.
Has your student emailed their advisor yet? Perhaps there’s a snafu somewhere that they’re waiting on getting cleared up. The GoBaylor Portal is not-so-great (imho), so some missing information could be lurking somewhere.
I was actually going to tell her to write to her advisor this weekend and then out of the blue acceptance came in Saturday morning (the swag t-shirt from I2E also came in the mail). Don’t know how long it will take to get the actual acceptance letter in the mail. The I2E scholarship still says she will be notified by April 9th and now the regular scholarship and financial aid tab says will be notified on April 10th. So, my guess there is she will hear from I2E first and if she doesn’t receive that, she will then receive a response on regular merit/financial aid. (She applied mid/late Sept btw.) She hasn’t heard on honors program yet because she hadn’t decided on which program and only submitted it recently. Congratulations on the honors program and the scholarship.
How did you get this email? Who did you reach out to?
We noticed the same error code. Glad to hear it’s not just us!
We didn’t reach out to anyone except his AO upon initial receipt of merit (excited, grateful, but how to get more) and we were told award was set. He was invited to Distinguished Scholars Day back in January so perhaps that ties in somehow?
They came back with an additional 2K. Underwhelmed. DS was not interested unless they could come within 10K of instate tuition. His major choice is not an especially lucrative one, and no real starting differential in first year salary whether you went to Harvard or random state university. Off to UT he goes instead – debt free. Hook’em!
Thanks for the update. Good luck to your son at UT.
Did anyone else get the Carr Collins Scholarship?
Does anyone here have a kid who’s not very religious? We are down to Baylor and another college. My daughter is worried she will not find her people and feel left out or judged. She beloeves in God, but does not practice. The other school is more of a party-school and she is worried that she will feel left out as well if she isn’t a big partier…which she isn’t. We absolutely love Baylor but have been seeing some transferring out because they never felt they fit in. I understand it is a Christian college, but would she be ok there?
Anyone else still waiting on RD Fall decision? Do we really have to wait until April 10th?
Has anyone heard back about the freshman scholarship weekend (getterman, B2B medical or law, I2E)???
The website says April 9th, if I remember right.
Technically, it says by April 9th…
Sounds a lot like my daughter. She is not very religious (did 9 years of catholic elementary school but went to a non-RC school for high school) and is worried about the same thing. She also isn’t a big partier and typically just hangs out with a small group of friends on weekends. She hasn’t committed anywhere yet but Baylor is in her top 5.
My daughter committed to Baylor a couple of days ago. She just loved it above all others so pulled the trigger. No regrets! (she hopes-lol)
