Baylor University transfer to Community College

i'm currently a freshman at Baylor University and I'm seriously considering transferring to my local community college next semester. Baylor gave me a pretty good academic scholarship that covers about half of tuition but I just really hate it here.

It's extremely conservative which is basically the opposite of what I am. There is literally nothing to do in waco except go down to austin or dallas on the weekends which is basically what i do. My classes aren't even hard and right now it looks like i'll be getting a 3.8 GPA without even trying. I've met some nice people and I've joined a couple of clubs but overall the christian atmosphere is really putting me down. Not to mention my roomate sucks ( yeah if i were stay next semester, i moving out :)

My main reason for transferring is because i'm still not really sure what i want to major in. Right now I think I'm heading towards something in the medical field ( NOT premed). I really want to shadow more occupations to decide on that..but waco is very limited on this type of thing as well. I feel like if i go to community college i can save money and figure exactly what i want to do with my life and then apply to a school that i actually really enjoy my junior and senior year.

I guess i'm asking if transfering sound like a good idea. Or should i just suck it up and deal with baylor

sorry for all the grammer errors. :)

i’m also very liberal and i can see why you’d hate the atmosphere there…why not transfer to UT austin? It’s pretty liberal and you’d be paying instate tuition (i assume). It’s bound to be tougher than baylor and there’s always the prestige  and since it’s so huge, it has a ton of opportunities and hundreds of student organizations you can get involved in. The bad thing is that scholarships are hard to come by though.

If you feel like you aren’t getting enough out of baylor right now, that will likely not change if you tough it out for the next 3 years. I think it’s worth it to save money for a year by going to cc, then transferring to somewhere you’ll be happy and more challenged.
