I am going to be a sophomore this upcoming fall and I am seriously thinking in getting a BBA in Economics. Before this decision, I was getting a double major in Global Studies and Communications, but I realized that Global Studies was too broad to land a good job after college.
I've always liked economics, as I already took the Macroeconomics class and loved it. However, should I get a double major with this BBA to have a better opportunity in the job market? I was thinking in minoring in Latin American Studies (I'm Hispanic and I do not discard the opportunity of working with migrants) and Environmental Science (because I've always had a major interest in the Environment and I think with a BBA I can get a job in this sector). What do you think? Do minors really matter at the end? Or do I need to double major to get more interest?

A minor might help with the environmental field. If double majoring holds you back from doing internships I wouldn’t do it. Experience is just as important if not more so than your GPA in the business world. Minors don’t matter too much but the way I think about is if there are two identical candidates in every category like GPA, major, personality, and etc. and one has a minor wouldn’t you pick the one with the minor? It can also sometimes make up for a a lack in one of the other areas as long as it’s relevant in the industry. I am doing the same thing as you except my minor is professional writing and editing because you need writing and editing skills in nearly every business job.

Thanks for replying I am not sure about double majoring right now because, If I’m being honest, I have no idea which one I like more (Environmental Science or Latin American Studies). I will start with the minor requirements and hopefully my mind will be set in one or two semesters. I already started looking for internships to get as much experiences I can before I graduate. Thanks!
