I have currently enrolled at a college in Japan and I can study either BBA or Bachelor of Social Science in International Relations. Which should I choose if I want to pursue Masters at a reputed university in US? Also, which would be better in terms of future job prospects and pay scales?
Either? It depends on what kind of master’s degree you want. If you want a master’s in international relations then the IR degree would be better. If you want an MBA then it probably doesn’t matter, but the BBA might be a better bet.
Generally speaking the salaries and employment are higher in business/for-profit/corporate fields than in international relations, but even that varies a lot by where you went to school, your accomplishments and skills, and the particular cycle of the economy that we’re in. A financier in real estate might have had a harder time than a consular officer finding a job in 2009, for example.
