I will be a painting major next year, and I will hopefully be housed in BBB for the arts adventure LC. I'm no wimp, but I've heard that BBB is isolated and backs up to a bad part of town? Would it be safe enough that I could walk home at midnight or later from Schaffer after a long night in the studios? I know that the university has quite a few safety nets, but I don't really want to have to deal with that.
Thanks in advance :)

My freshman daughter is in Boland, is in Architecture and walks back and forth to Slocum at all hours - she feels safe, but does not walk alone late at night. That is good advice in general. So I would not worry …

My daughter moved into Brewster halfway thru her freshman year, & chose to live there again soph year. She’s an acting major & often comes home late from Syracuse Stage. She too has never had a problem, although as A000213 said, she does NOT walk alone at night, and I agree that this is a good idea in general, no matter where you are on this or any campus…

thanks for the help. i don’t plan on running around alone at night.

haha from what’s being said here and from what i saw when i visited campus, i have the feeling that the area surrounding BBB isn’t really ghetto except perhaps by the standards of the generally very well off kids at cuse. that said, i suppose i never actually visited the area directly surrounding BBB (although i did go close to that area). it sounds pretty toothless for someone who is street-smart, similar to most other slightly disadvantaged city neighborhoods. would that be fair to say?
