Still havent heard back from them, and they keep wanting forms that I have no way of getting, (long story). They seem like they do not want to give me any aid since they know that I will need a big package to attend.

I am frustrated with the office and the northeastern short and quick vibe I get from them. My BC friends did warn me of the financial aid office and they were right about them. It seems like although BC has a large endowment, they do not want to use any of that to help students who have low efc’s, and would rather save their money on projects for future projects for the school. They would rather accept and have a rich student who can afford the bill, which explains why a lot of people have a perception of BC students being rich and white. I do not personally have this perception, but I understand why some do.

Is there anyway for an extension to make my decision about BC after May 1st until I hear back from the Fin. aid office? Could I enroll at another school, then hear from BC for the aid, then decide to go to BC?

Any inputs and opinions would be appreciated. Thanks.

BC recalculates the need according to their own formula, which yields an EFC much higher than that of FAFSA. Then they meet 100% of that. From my experiences they were very stingy.

BC financial aid is a love-hate thing. You either get a lot of money or you get dirt. The number one problem with, I think, is how much BC weights the value of your home. It automatically assumes that you can borrow against your house's value to pay for the cost. If you want to get good money from BC, DON'T OWN a house.

BC Financial Aid was hard to go through for me too, especially when I was trying to get my noncustodial profile waived. They don't have an official form like other schools, so I sent them three letters explaining my situation from myself (one signed by my mother and I, one from my guidance counselor, and one from her employer), and when we went to the Financial Aid office in person they still wanted a signed document from my mother.

But I have to say, when they lost the Home Income Verification form I turned in over a week ago, they were really sorry and even promised to get my package done before May 1st so I could decide. I'm hoping for the best... because BU gave me absolute crap for financial aid and I want to stay near Boston.

BC was fairly stingy with aid, though after I called luckily they yielded and gave me more money so I could attend. Their formula yields a much higher efc than what I could possibly afford initially, until my parents argued with the fin. aid people.
