bc or umich.. pleas respond to this one

wats known as a better school.. umich or bc...

here's 14 pages of argument on which school is better...

<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=299981&highlight=michigan+boston+college%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=299981&highlight=michigan+boston+college</a></p>

here is your overview

Michigan>BC in presitge and connections.

BC>Michigan in class sizes and selectivity

Michigan>BC in most departments, but BC is usually close behind.

Michigan>BC in sports, but about equal in hockey

so really, what do you want? boston or ann arbor? conservative or liberal? Michigan is known as a better school because not many people realize how good of a school BC is, but either way they are close.

Their sports programs, weather, and average SAT scores are comparable. They are apples and oranges in everything else. I graduated from BC and live 20 min. from U of M. The type of student who picks each seems to be extremely different, but on a day-to-day basis, the biggest differences that will impact your life will be the vastness of the Michigan campus vs. the compactness of BC, and the unique jock/hippie/intellectual mix of the small city of Ann Arbor vs. the unique jock/intellectual mix of the large city of Boston.

Also, BC's professors seem to actually care about the undergrad students, while even a cousin of mine who recently got a PhD at Michigan said a surprising % of the faculty was there mostly to get the prestigious Michigan name on their resumes and move on to more elite schools in Chicago or the coasts.

because of the lack of excellent state schools in the northeast, many people don't realize they exist elsewhere. i would think bc would have the better reputation in new england.
