BCG at CGA during summer

I've read in the Navy forum that USNA requires plebes to wear BCG instead of their own glasses or contacts. Is this also the way it is at CGA?

also curious about this

bump

You can wear your own glasses but you can't wear contacts. If you don't have glasses you will get the BCG's :D

Guess I'll be buying the son some new glasses!

True...but don't get anything too "metro" if you get my drift...ha ha.

During my son's cadet for a day visit, we asked the 2/c who was giving the tour about contacts and/or glasses during swab summer.
Here is her reply - she wore her contacts during her swab summer, was a cadre last summer and did not hear of any restrictions then - one of her swabs wore contacts. She is on the operational staff ( not sure of the term actually) for next summer and thinks nothing will change. But didn't think to ask the "brass" in the QandA.

Interesting...anyway how did the visit go overall?

Visit went well. Was a small group - maybe 5 or 6 cadets-to-be. I would assume Jan is not a popular time to visit but worked well since my son wanted to see a hockey game and got to meet the coach and some players. The campus is actually not as small as we thought. We were impressed with the deans of academics and athletics and the others who spoke. Very committed group of people. My son ran into some cadre from his AIM week and everyone was very friendly.
My husband and I enjoyed visiting the two Indian Casino's nearby while on our own. :-) They are very amazing even compared to Vegas. Seems to be lots to see and do close by. Mystic is charming and we enjoyed eating at Mystic Pizza. So all in all, a good visit.
