Bct courses/ SERE

i was talking to LtGen Regni tonight. most likely, the usafa courses will be open and operational for basic. they are currently getting the courses reviewed and approved.

also, they are working hard to bring back either SERE or CST for summer after doolie year. they also want to try to bring back a prisoner camp drill or something like that for summer after 3 dig year (possibly in time for c/o 2010)

I LOVE LtGen Regni!
Now I'm all excited for BCT again...
naive??
yes.

probably only CST. Think about SERE and having cadets run it. Just one note for everyone. SERE either here or after pilot training requires signing a waiver. In this waiver, for resistance training, the cadre are allowed to break "small bones." SERE is rough, and having cadets run it is one of the reasons it was altered to CST.

ya Hornetguy I see what you mean, It would be a lot responsibilty for cadets to run SERE, but whats CST? Capture survival training?

Combat Survival Training.

Eating bugs and rabbit's eyeballs and stuff like that...

So Mike, you talk to the General on a consistent basis? You guys friends or something? (Just teasing...) :-P

Sweet! I was reading about CST and it sounds like one of the funnest programs at the Academy.

Interesting. I suppose that the AF felt that the US' military situation has changed to the point that corrections need to be made. Personally, I have no problem with cadets teaching wilderness survival or basic combat skills, but I do not think that cadets should conduct resistance-type training. Anything that involves "touching" someone in an atmosphere that can be emotionally charged to a very high degree needs be left to the pros at Fairchild, IMO.

Enjoy the training - parts of it are going to be fun and you can learn a great deal. And congrats on choosing the best branch!

actually, we are quite good buddies. talked yesterday, talked to him at soccer games, around the squad (he was a 28 grad), he gave me his hotdog and soda from the president of wyoming's press box at the usafa@wyoming football game this year...

so yeah, we're tight... lol

lmao. ur serious arent u? What the heck, thats pretty sic

i'm dead serious. and that hotdog during a snowing game was awesome. i saw him again tonight while i was volunteering at A-hall and we exchanged a quick hello

yea i know him too, eagle introduced us.... we met at orientation. hes really cool.
