I was wondering if someone could explain what happens at Jacks Valley during the second phase of BCT. Are cadets camping? How do they eat? What equipment to do they bring with them? Is it survival trainging?

NOT survival training in the least.

The run several courses like the obstacle course, assault course, leadership reaction course, etc.

They eat in a large tent. Food is cooked like normal. They will eat MREs a couple times too.

Not really "camping" I'd say. But they live in 1950's surplus tents. :)

They bring canteens with web belts, camelbaks, and all their necessary uniform items for BDUs.

You can go onto the AOG's photo galleries for last year to see BCT Jack's in action....i.e. the 2010 (or earlier) photos. Here's the link if you haven't been there yet;

Gallery 4 is of the 2010 Jacks' time period (also known as BCT-2)

Looks like "fun" if you like mud! :)

It is moving into tents and doing more physical things like the courses, rather than marching, attending briefings, and having SAMIs.

Because it is in the "field" (more or less) some standards are relaxed i.e. blackened boots rather than shined, tents orderly vs. SAMIed rooms.
