Seriously, although NU is my top choice, my feelings won't be hurt if you're truly being honest.

My freshman GPA is abysmal. I'm applying to a lot of schools that ignore freshman year ( UC's / CMU ). Seriously, if you got rid of my freshman year I would have a 3.9.. Sigh,..

Edit: Forgot my test scores!

You certainly have. Shot.
Good luck!

You are showing a huge upward trend and that is very important. Apply ED and you have a great shot. Good Luck!

Thanks for the hope! Would it be okay that I’m not in the top 10%? Or does that change things?

Honestly, no, I do not think you have much of a shot. Even though you have a huge upward trend, you are unhooked and will be competing with students who have had straight 4.0s for 4 years. (How do you have a 4.0 for senior year if it started no more than, 2 weeks ago?) Anyway, I do think ED is your best bet. Good luck!

Thanks for your honesty! I may apply to CMU ED H&SS or Tepper instead because they ignore freshman year…
And yeah, It’s probably too early to say if I got a 4.0 senior year haha.

I didn’t get past the GPA, not good chance. I don’t suspect my 3.99 UW, 33 ACT son has a great chance. It’s tough.

I think you’ve got a good shot because you’re going ED. I remember seeing kids with 29s get accepted ED last year. If you weren’t I’d say you didn’t have a good chance of getting in, because they accept basically half the class ED and then the last half is between people with very, very, very rigorous scores and curriculums. But, I think you’ll get in. Good luck! Hope to see you here next year!

Even If I’m not in the top 10%?

It’s a total crapshoot, and getting “chanced” isn’t going to change anything. Work hard this year, take a lot of time with your essays, since a lot of colleges (especially NU) want to see more than just your scores, and don’t stress about it.

Snickers – if NU is absolutely your first choice, you should consider applying ED. As you note, your freshman grades may be problematic. However, you have shown tremendous and continuous improvement over time, which should help. I don’t think anyone can say more than that.
