Emory University - Assumed Bigger Reach

University of Pittsburgh - Assumed Safety

I almost forgot...varsity golf!

A reponse would be nice...

Hi!!!!

...What I responded?

Ok, your stats look good and Syracuse is a saftey.

Anyone else?

Eh. I got into Emory RD with a 2040. I had killer essays. Their ED acceptance rate was the highest in the top 20. Apply ED. I think you have a great shot.

Applying ED to Emory...perhaps...I'd obviously have to see the campus first...

Who else? Come on...I need a good stats eval!

i think you may be underselling yourself a bit with those predictions... emory ED is doable for you imo...

Yeah, I think you are underselling yourself.
Emory University - Reach / slight reach if ED
Colgate University - Slight Reach
Brandeis University - Match
Bucknell University - Low Match
University of Rochester - Low Match
Syracuse University - Safety
Dickinson College - Safety
University of Pittsburgh - Safety (likely merit aid)

Yeah, but what about my lower GPA? I thought that would hurt me a lot!

It would hurt you at more competitive schools. None of the schools you are applying to are that hard to get into that it puts you out of the running. Your weighted GPA is fine, and your SAT scores are also pretty good.

GPA looks okay to me.

Sorry, being that you're from HHS, you wouldnt even get into FKK with those stats. I'd suggest holding yourself back in 12th grade another year.

just messin man ;)

i think you may have too many B's to consider Brandeis University, Bucknell University and University of Rochester as matches. If you truly want to enter any of those schools, you should apply ED.

Whoa...I get some people saying that Rochester and Bucknell are safe matches, and Brandeis is a match, and then I get someone saying that they're reaches.

Big disparity here. I could use some more opinions to check if sulsk's opinion is an outlier...

Hopefully my last bump...

HeavenWood, these schools are not EXTREMELY difficult to get into. As for Emory, you should be able to get into this one through connections and stats. As for the comment about the Bs, there is some truth to that. You do have your share of Bs in courses, where someone who earned a 31 on the ACT should not have Bs. On the other hand, in a sense, this shows that you're well-rounded, because, even though you're not Mr. Straight As, you're a good test-taker and doing well in college (and life) requires acing tests. Other than that, you should have a good chance of getting into any one of those schools.

Agree with above, but work hard to wow adcom with your first semester 12th grade GPA; that could make the difference. Emphasize your passion for music and note how you would contribute to campus life with that particular interest. Decide which colleges are high priority for you and then woo them with visits, contacts and efforts to show why you belong there. "Fit" is a two-way street.

I really want to go to Rochester. I could probably get in RD, but I just loooved the campus and will probably apply early (meaning that I would have almost a 100% chance of getting in).
