Someone on here once said that this year 27,000 people applied to UT, and only 1/3 were accepted. Based on previous years, let's say only 5.6% of these admitted students were from out of state--that puts us at right around 500 people. We really beat the odds! WOOT~!

It may not be the case this year, UT Austin hiked tuition fee so much for OOS this year, the school knew that a lot of OOS will drop this school as option since the tuition hike, my guess is that they gave out more offers to OOS this year than any other years.

If last year they gave out 500, this year it may be 1500. UT Austin was DS's first choice until we received this tuition increase letter. now we are considering other schools now.

it's not that 1/3 were accepted...it's that 1/3 matriculated.

I think it's more around 60% acceptance, but i'm not sure.

I think their acceptance rate is about half now, overall.

yeah, you're right....glad to see UT is getting more selective :)

I just went for an info session yesterday for McCombs. Out of 752 out of state applicants, only 148 were admitted. 19.6% acceptance rate in McCombs for out of state students. The rest of the University is probably higher, I'd guess around 30%?

what I want to know is how many people actually pay the out of state tuition because if they give out this nonresident tuition waver for anyone who gets any sort of competitive scholorship, I would imagine that most of the people that actually get accepted would qualify for some type of scholorship.

Well I missed the scholarship deadline, and i'm just not seeing one appearing anytime soon...so i think i'm basically screwed.

I'm still waiting for mine but I think it's just "mental masterbation" that I get one.

Have any of you out of state people gotten financial aid yet, theres only like a week and a half until the end of the month and that would be usefull in making a decision.

I got it online about a week and a half ago, and letter came on Saturday.
