Bear Facts Orientation-What to BRING?

So....I was looking online at the list of what to bring to orientation and it didn't mention bringing linens(sheets, comforter, pillows)...and since we are staying overnight I'm wondering are we suppose to bring these things or are they going to provide them? Also for anyone who has already been how is staying the dorms? Are people in their own room the whole night or are people socializing and hanging out in different rooms? Are people up all night or does everyone keep to themselves and go to bed. Also- how do they go about picking your roommate for the night? And when you first arrive are you sent to the dorm room you will be staying in to set your suitcase (and if you have to bring linens) down? Thanks a lot!

They provide sheets, blanket, and pillow

most people kept to their own rooms, I guess most people didn’t feel the socializing would be worth it since it was only for two days

and you can drop off your stuff in your dorm right after you sign in

so in which dorms did you guys stay in? pentland or in all of them?

also, did they choose your roomates for the night?

You don’t get to choose your roommate, but you’ll be staying at Pentland, nowhere else

is wifi up and running?

It’s up and running

sweet but sadly my psp wifi receiver is broken :(

aww that sucks, does it have cfw tho? lol

idk all I know is that it says “internal error” when its looking for signal. I fell when I was looking for signal in my back( oddly There is a strong signal there but this was a year ago.

is it just two days and one night?

bring sunscreen if needed, it will be hot. Bring extra change of clothes for the summer situation, bring anything that can cool you down, bring LOTS OF WATER, bring anything you can to help you fight the heat.

other than that, you can look up the classes that they will be offering for your 1st quarter on classes.ucr.edu to make up different schedules. During orientation, the faster you finish it, the chances of you getting the classes you need is higher.

You stay in the dorm just for the night, in Pentland. Pentland is supposed to be the fanciest, but take my word for it, its not necessarily the best dorm.

I didn’t even have a roommate during my orientation, and I only had two other people in my hall, it was a ghost town. The bed does have linens and a pillow, really weak ones but it’ll do since it’ll get hot by then. Also, the wifi at dorms in UCR is horrible. I live in AI and the wifi is pretty much unusable near the halls. It was like that for Pentland when I was there as well.

But yeah, in terms of what you should bring, just bring what you would need to stay overnight, just don’t go all-out, you’re only gonna be in the dorm just to sleep pretty much. But yeah, it depends on who you get stuck with that determines if its gonna be social or not, my orientation group was super quiet, probably because we’re engineers, lol…
