I've heard that during beast we'll be allowed to call our parents for ten minutes... does anyone know if we're allowed to split that up into two five-minute calls? I'm sure I'm not the only one whose parents are divorced. Anyone have any experience with this?

You'll probably get two five minute calls, one during first detail, one during second. At the ice cream social, you can make a few different phone calls depending on how many people are at your sponsors.

Your cadre probably won't care if you spend 2 minutes on one phone call and 2 minutes on a second. My parents were on vacation, so I ended up calling three friends, my brother, and my aunt before finding someone who was home.

Luck with all that.

ok, thanks!

3 phone calls total during Beast. Make sure you know the phone numbers. Most high school students just have numbers in their cell phones and don't actually know all the ways to reach your parents.

Parents, those calls can come at any time of day or night. Make your arrangements now so that you can carry your cell phone with you at all times during Beast. And make sure your Cadet Candidate knows your cell phone numbers.

When the cadre switches details halfway through Beast (usually on a Sunday), cadets are sent to hang out with sponsors for the afternoon. If you don't have a cell, bring a phone card that will cover long-distance charges and your sponsor will encourage you all to use the phone "in turn".

having a memorized phone card helped a ton in basic and ait.
