Is it possible for a business/econ grad from an Ivy with internship experience on the buy-side (hedge fund) to achieve that after getting a JD from YHS with no prior work experience in IB, S&T?

I know that it’s probably not likely, but is it possible?

Your best bet would be to practice law for a few years, and then make a move over to IB. If, however, you are interested in IB right after a JD, you’d really have to explain why the law degree, why IB, why not law, do you have the technical knowledge, etc.

If you’ve got some connections, you might be able to make the move to IB as an associate, but it would definitely be rare and a bit odd to the IB - why didn’t you go for the JD/MBA option if you wanted IB?

IBanker

I know people who have done it. It’s rare but definitely possible, especially if you’ve had previous experience in the industry.
