So... I hear there are bed bugs living in dorm room beds?! Especially in dorms that are close to the ocean for some reason. Has anyone had problems with this... esp. in the ERC dorms?

This is a serious question btw

lol i've never ever had that problem. i lived in la200 in the 06-07 year, and ive never heard of anything like that. worst i've heard is just people sleeping on their bed without sheets (my roommate) sometimes nakey (same person ha) so thats the only gross thing i'd know of. dont worry about bed bugs

Same here, never had a problem.

thanks for the replies! I feel better now :)

Anyone can get bedbugs regardless of location. I hope everybody knows this but I doubt it: you should wash your sheets at least once a week. i told my friend this and she was like really? sooooo b/c i didn't expect this reaction im pretty sure others don't know this or decide not to, which is really gross.

i think i am more disturbed by someone sleeping naked on the mattress than with bedbugs

"i think i am more disturbed by someone sleeping naked on the mattress than with bedbugs"

Agreed.

Last year in the dorms, I was lucky enough to get a new mattress. It was wrapped in an annoyingly loud plastic sheet and I slept with it for a week before my roommate told me it was supposed to come off. haha..--

Washing your sheets every week seems a bit excessive and a waste of water and money. Every 2-3 weeks worked fine.

as long as some dirty stranger isn't secretly taking naps on your bed then how could you get bed bugs?

what exactly IS a bed bug? like lice? fleas?

bedbugs usually aren't transmitted by people. you're thinking of lice.

and wikipedia can tell you what a bedbug is.

The most common way to get bedbugs is if you go sleep in hotel or hospital with some article of clothing or bedding you then bring home. Pillows are the biggest culpit because people don't wash them, only pillow cases. So, unless the person who had your bed last year had bedbugs, or you bring them there, your bed will not have bedbugs...
