Bed sets

Mine was actually an electric tea kettle. But yeah, generally... :p

I had something like this: http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/zaccardis_1957_39211415

Oh yeah kids - don't freak out if you don't have items from a comprehensive list of things to bring to college sans laptop. There's a mall via busride (blue bus 8 or 12) 10 minutes from UCLA that'll take you 20 minutes tops to get mall-related-items. As for toiletries and that sort: Ackerman Union, CVS Pharmacy, Rite-Aid in the village... and Ralph's to an extent. Bedding? You can take the 8 or 12 again to about National and Sepulveda closeto a ROSS if you're going cheaper (or I suppose to Westside Pavillion via 8 or 12) which takes a few minutes more than 20 to get to. I mean, don't freak out if you forget anything or if you don't have your own car to get things forgot or... calling your parents to ship you stuff. It'll most likely be OK.

If you don't have your own transportation: http://www.mta.net

It would help to get familiar with Westwood Village, Westside Pavillion for mall-needs, buses 8 and 12 especially (and generally the blue line to get to Santa Monica etc), and uhh North Westwood Village for your apartment friends, parties... and................. blahdeblah

-- Of course this probably doesn't make sense now but it will soon enough.

Interesting kettle...

Oh, don't forget about Westfield Century (or whatever). And.... technically one could buy their notebook at UCLA Store or Best Buy. :D

the Westfield mall in Century City? That's REALLY upscale and expensive goods. Not for dorm shopping, but for more like Coach/LV/Abercrombie/Pink Taco shopping. The best dining pavilion I've seen, though (everything, even the Panda Express is served on white ceramic plates!) is in there, as well as AMC's flagship theater.

Nah... Westside Pav.

Room inspections were easy for us last year. We had one first quarter. We decided to put our microwave in a closet for that week, except we got inspected the first day so we were able to put it right back out again. The second one was like two weeks before school ended, and we had the same situation.

The best is how you "hide" your microwave and such during the year. We put ours on a stack of crates with a beach towel over it and threw some magazines ontop. By the end of the year half of our floor was referring to the microwave as our "towel rack" when they needed to borrow it.

haha thats cute

i looked up microfrideges and theyre $300 to buy..so who in their right mind would rent them for $200...maybe im missing something?
should i just buy a microwave and a fridge and hide them?

also i drink tea twice a day...r ther places to get tea on campus at a good price or should i just get a tea kettle?

You can drink tea in the dining halls.

Well for the adventurous soul, you can buy a Rival Hotpot Express (14.95 water boiler that most people use to boil water for tea and instant ramen) to cook various meats for yourself and dip it in soy sauce to eat. I had to do that for a couple of weeks when I was home alone.

Jinobi, the one on SM Blvd. is in Century City? Shrug, I still don't know LA and it's city naming conventions.

Well it's a mall nonetheless. And some of the stores are pretty standard mall places. I didn't think the place was that upscale, at least based on the way it looks. And that's the flagship AMC??? It didn't seem that special. ANd I'd like to see Panda Express on ceramic plates. :D
