Do any of you who are returning (or eadad, or someone) have any experience with these? Are they good quality and worth buying, or should I stick with something from Bed, Bath & Beyond?

My son did an “eggcrate” foam topper immediately on top of the mattress and then put a featherbed on top of it and then covered it all with a thick mattress pad that kept it all together with his fitted sheet over that. He and others said it was incredibly comfortable and several of his friends went out copied it later in the year. Everything was from BB&B.

you want some type of cover for your mattress. lot’s of DNA is spilled on those beds and you’ll want as many layers between you and it as possible. that being said, there’s no need to use the UNC one unless finances restrict you. that type of thing can be billed to your student account, so heavy scholarship and fin-aid users can take advantage of it if they must.

that being said, go with the bed, bath, and beyond one, but make sure it’s extra-long. the dorm beds are a different length than the average twin bed.
