Been accepted, got questions about dorms

Random note: I applied on January 14th (15th was the deadline) and I got accepted as little as a month later.
I knew a bunch of people that didn't get accepted until a bit later but they had applied as early as December or even before the priority deadline.
My SAT wasn't that good, either, lol.

Anyways, I've been to the campus and I've already decided on what dorm I want to be in however how can you select what dorm you want to be in?
I'd rather not be stuck where I don't want to be.
Otherwise does anyone have any recommendations on which dorms are better to be in than the others?

The key thing is get your housing application in on the FIRST DAY possible. Check the website to find out when that is -- I think it's pretty soon. You'll get to put down a prioritized list of the dorms you want.

They main things about the different dorms: do you want to be in freshman only? Do you want to be at the south end of campus, or the north end?

Which one looks good to you? -- sounds like you pretty much have your mind made up.

Is the Housing contract binding?

Read the fine print. I'm guessing that the deposit is non-refundable, but housing is at such a premium, they won't need to hold you to a contract should you change your mind. BUT, once the quarter starts and you've moved in, I would imagine they would keep all the money for that quarter, even if you've moved out.

It is really random... but if you apply right when the application goes out you have a better chance of getting your first choice. Anything is better than sharing a big room with 5 other girls (I never had to but they bothered me by existing above me).

I know people that sent in their deposit before they were even accepted so don't wait to the last minute. Also you would lose your deposit at the very most if you moved out very early or never moved in. This fall they were so strapped for space that they were cramming people everywhere such as a bunch of people in a lounge. They will probably continue to be lenient in enforcing contracts because they are desperate for space.

Just curious on this question. Does the Husky Promise cover for transportation, books, etc? Or is it less than that?

I think Husky Promise just covers tuition, but I am not sure.
