I received a bachelor's degree and I am thinking about going back to school in the engineering field. I have applied but I am unfamiliar with how the entire situation works. I was told to apply as a non-degree seeking transfer (since I already have a degree) but if I want to go into the engineering field can I just start taking engineering classes or do I have to re-apply once I have been admitted to get into an engineering program?

You are definitely seeking a degree, an engineering degree. You will need to talk to your schools admission team for this, as it will be school specific. I had a Bachelors and went back after 4 years out. I was able to get right in to the engineering program.

Non-degree seeking status is really only for those who are making up deficiencies in order to prepare for applying to a post-graduate program. We see students taking pre-med or pre-dental coursework quite often. We have also had engineering students who want to get a graduate degree in Physics and need to take some fundamental coursework to prepare for our graduate courses.
