Before I can even hope,

Can you please tell me if I'm in the "considered" range for IVY schools if my rank is in the top quartile of my class (out of 92 students), with a 94.86 average on a 100 GPA scale?

Or will they just look at my grades and shove my application into the "rejected" pile?

depends what type of school

It’s an IVY league school, as mentioned in the first post.

i mean depends on your high school, whether you will be auto-rejected for not being ranked very high

Oh, sorry! It’s an international school (in Asia) with very competitive students. I know the student right above me has around a 94.93 GPA-- our class is shaped like a diamond, with the valedict & saluta. on top and all of the other students bunched in the middle.

sounds like a unique situation, so we probably wouldn’t be able to say for sure either way, so why don’t you ask other students or your counselors how previous years’ students in your rank have fared.

That’ll be difficult, actually-- last year, the vale & salu. were on top and they were so phenomenal that they outshone the other students. That class was shaped like an hourglass with a fat body, because only 6 seniors were on the high honor roll (95 and over)-- oh, and the two seniors both got into Princeton.

So far, the top two of our class have both been accepted for Stanford early, and a girl got into Columbia (NHS Historian last year). I wonder if there’s any hope for me…
