Before Orientation

Hi. I was wondering if there was anything I had to do before Orientation in terms of picking classes and such. Should I have a list of all the classes I want to take before going down? Can you find out your enrollment time ahead of time? It says you can via your my unc page, but I can't figure out where to find it. If anyone can give me any advice on orientation and what it involves, that would be great. Thanks!

Go to Connect Carolina page, Look at the very top where it has options to “Search Plan Enroll.” Poke around there (plan) and pick out your classes. Put the classes you want in your planner AND your shopping cart. I’d have at least 3 options for each class (ie- have Eng 120, Eng 145, and Eng 144 all in your cart if you want to take an english class). I’d try to have at least 5-7 FYS in your cart if you’re planning on taking one. Then, when registration opens, you have enough classes in your shopping cart to pick from. (I got all the classes I wanted except for one, but having the classes in my cart was super helpful)

They will give you time to find classes, but you will definitely have a bit of a headstart if they are already in your shopping cart. That way if you hear of another class that tickles your fancy, you don’t have to worry about finding it AND every other class.

Also, I totally agree with having tons of other options. I was definitely stressing out because so many of my choices were getting filled.
