So you applied to a prep school. That’s great! You care about your education, and you want to enrich your life with the opportunities you will find there. It says an awful lot about you that you were able to make it through the admissions process. But before most people receive their decisions, I wanted to tell everyone something:
Prep Schools are not everything.
At every school, whether public or private, you can find motivated kids like you who care about their future. If you can’t find those kids, do it by yourself. Work you butt off to get good grades and participate in activities, and colleges will want you. In fact, it may decrease your chances of getting into a “good college” if you go to prep school, because so many kids from prep schools apply. And let me tell you something, motivation matters a whole lot more than grades. You don’t get grades in adult life, but you do need to motivate yourself to keep going.
So few people go to prep school, and there are so many successful people who didn’t go to prep schools. If you don’t get in or you can’t afford it, don’t worry about it, and make yourself one of the exceptions.
That being said, the best of luck to everyone on March 10th!
