Behavioral Neuroscience Co-Op?

Does anyone know any specifics such as what kind of co-op and how much the co-op salary is on average for this major?
Thanks!(:

BNS co-ops are really varied since BNS majors have a wide range of interests. A majority of the jobs are research based, both in academia and industry. Brigham&Women’s/Harvard med have a lot of jobs available-- sleep study, neuro imaging, auditory system research, infant hearing studies, more basic neurobio/cell bio work. Tufts and BU also have a good selection of jobs in clinical research. On the Industry end, lots of biotech employers like genzyme, millenium, novartis, biogen idec., mainly doing cell biology research.

On the clinical side, a lot of patient management in research studies or hospital clinics. People more interested in psych/behavior have opportunities to work with autistic populations at several well-regarded programs, or at area mental hospitals.

Salaries depend on whether you’re in academic hospitals or in industry. Academia pays less, usually $10-12/hr, industry pays up to around $18 (but high paying jobs are competitive–most students who get them are on their 2nd or 3rd co-op and have excellent resumes).

Emily, thank you so much! That was one of my major concerns.

As much as I’d LOVE to attend here, I’m worried about the debt I would accumulate and how I could possibly pay it off. Do you know many students with the same fears? I don’t think I can allow myself to go to NEU knowing that I’d graduate with 100k in debt (parents are paying half my tuition, but we don’t think we’ll get any grants in the fin aid packet as dad owns a small business).
