Being a Paki-American

If I am a Paki-American, I know I would still be considered an Asian (b/c parents are from South Asian country),but would they also group me with the East Asians and the Indians, even though there aren’t as many Paki-Americans as Indians in college?

You guys get my question?

Asian is Asian no matter which part of Asia you are from. If your question is hinting at whether or not you will get URM status, the answer is unfortunately no.

you can put down your racial group if you want to; if you think it will help.

colleges don't distinguish among different nationalities, only racial groups.

no I mean you can put down "Pakistan" next to "Asian American", there's a line for you to distinguish if you wish on some applications. It helps if you're from a random minority country that's not prominent in admissions

I doubt it. Colleges work on numbers(ironically they dont like to judge applicants on numbers). If you are a pakistani(is that how you call it?), it would show up as "Asian" on CB and other information sites. They want "diversity", and adding 1 more to a 25% minority group wouldnt help.

However, if you have gone through rough times because of your nationality, that is a different story.
