Being obese at college

It certainly seems that the majority of 18-22 year college students are lean and slim. Does being obese and have a bad figure affect you at college? like getting bullied or mocked or something?

And what about keeping facial hair like mustaches? I haven't seen anyone with a mustache so just asking ;) ;)

I don’t notice people getting bullied at college, honestly. I see tons of different types of people around campus, and despite any differences they’re walking and talking with people.

I don’t see too many mustaches around, but whatever works for you. (:

I’ve only seen a handful of obese students, but they certainly don’t get picked on or anything. Several of them are extremely popular and the rest are content with their social standing at school. Besides, all of them happen to be great, fun, intelligent people.

As for facial hair, I’ve seen a bunch of guys with mustaches and beards. One of my friends from high school (who came to the same uni) has this big, bushy beard and everyone adores it because it’s so… strange.

You’re a guy so you can win people over with your personality more easily. If you were a girl, I can tell you, at least from my observations at my school, you would face a lot of negative image issues from other girls. Be confident with yourself, but no one gets bullied in college unless you’re looking to antagonize people.

You won’t get bullied. And facial hair is varied. If your moustache looks good though, keep it.

ahhhhh it feels good to be slim and sexi

but seriously, you should really focus on losing that weight

you only get to be young once, dont waste it being obese, make the decision

you can do it

It’s perfectly acceptable as long as you keep up with your hygiene.

the only way obese people in college get picked on is if they **** someone off. other than that, no one really cares. there are more wierdos in college than obese people so its not like anyone’s going to pay attention (a.k.a. this guy at my school who looks like the exact replica of Captain Jack off of Pirates of the Carribean, lol priceless) but yea no one really cares. just be yourself

This isn’t high school or middle school, nobody cares in college if you’re obese.

No one gets bullied in college

^ Not exactly true.

As for being obese, there may be some snide remarks behind the person’s back, but overall, likely won’t have a problem.

the skinny kids took my lunch money.

It’s unlikely you’ll get bullied.

of course there will be talking behind people’s backs about certain things, but no open bullying. At least at my school, everyone talks about everyone

^ I’m agreeing that bullying isn’t likely, but it still happens on college campuses from time to time.

Find a sport you like and play. That way you have more of an incentive to hit the gym working out becoz up to a certain level, you need stronger body/arm strength to truly enjoy just any sports.

Join the Rugby team at your school. It is the most infectious sport ever - everyone really gets into it, not that you get a social disease from it - and you will get in shape. People who really were against playing it have come to love it. Also, ruggers are the best people to be around.

If you get that mustache, be prepared to be mistaken for a grad student.
