being rescinded from a college

I got accepted to UCSC with a 3.6-3.8 GPA as of junior year. This year, I’ve been getting A’s and B’s in all my classes other than AP Chem!! For me, it is extremely challenging and so far I got an F on my semester grade. But this next semester, my grades are going to a C+ almost B. So what are the chances of being rescinded because of one class? Do colleges look at semester grades only, or do they look at quarter and semester grade? Other than that, my GPA has been around 3.0-3.4.

Talk to your guidance counselor, if your grade in AP Chem wasn’t good at the beginning of the year then UCSC saw that on your mid-year report and still accepted you! Try your best and be SURE to keep the rest of your grades extremely high to make up for this one blemish.

I don’t understand why you give a range for your gpa as of junior year. Was it 3.6, or 3.8? That’s a big difference.

UCSC will not ask for a Mid-year report so they are going by self-reported grades from the UC Application prior to Senior year. If the F is on your final transcript (my son’s HS reports 2 semester grades on transcript) then you need to notify admissions. If you wait until after the May 1 SIR deadline, you will be out of options if they do rescind your acceptance. You will find they are willing to work with you and not rescind you if possible, but you need to take care of this ASAP.

i put that big range because of unweighted and weighted GPA’s.
